BlackRock’s Woodstock 50th Anniversary Event Headlines This Summer’s Free Concert Lineup in Germanto
BlackRock Center for the Arts has officially announced the lineup for their annual Free BlackRock Summer Concerts on their Outdoor Stage. This concert series is a gift from BlackRock to local residents and brings the community together for family fun in the heart of Germantown Town Center.
Shows will be held on five consecutive Saturdays starting June 29. The first four concerts begin at 7:00 pm. Concert-goers are invited to visit BlackRock’s Beer and Wine Garden, sup at any of the specially-provided Food Trucks, or bring their own picnic as they choose the spot for their blanket or low-rise lawn chairs in the front of the Center. Guests may begin to assemble at 6:00 pm.
For the last of the free summer shows, Woodstock comes to BlackRock. 50 years after the legendary music festival that helped define the 1960s, BLACKROCK WOODSTOCK will be an all-day event hosting a full lineup of musical artists paying tribute to the original 1969 concert. The festival will feature face-painting, fun food, period craft vendors, peace, and music, in addition to the normal fare of previous concerts. BLACKROCK WOODSTOCK will start at 2:00 pm on July 27 and go on into the evening.
“BLACKROCK WOODSTOCK might be the biggest event we’ve ever done. Having this lineup of local artists together, each paying homage to different iconic performers of the 1960s, is a concept and a challenge that the artists are very excited about,” said BlackRock Executive Director Alyona Ushe. “It will be an electric finale to all the exciting free concerts this summer, which for many in the community, are their first introduction to BlackRock and all that we offer.”
All Summer Concerts will be performed on the BlackRock Outdoor Stage with seating on front lawn, weather permitting - picnic blankets and low-back chairs are welcome. In the case of inclement weather, concerts will move inside to the BlackRock Mainstage.
