Two Injured in Second Germantown Shooting in a Week
Detectives from the MCPD 5th District in Germantown are investigating a shooting incident which left two people with non-life threatening injuries. It is the second shooting incident in Germantown in seven days.
The shooting took place Thursday night, May 30, at approximately 9:25 pm in the 12600 block of Grey Eagle Court. Police and MCFRS units were called to the area after receiving reports of a shooting. Police said that first responders located a 26-year-old male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his upper body and a 21-year-old female suffering from a non-life-threatening injury to her lower body. The male victim was shot in the arm transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The female victim suffered a grazing wound and was treated by Fire and Rescue personnel at the scene. Investigators could not release with certainty exactly how many shots were fired in the incident, according to Police spokesman Officer Rick Goodale.
The investigation by detectives determined that the victims were involved in an altercation with multiple people in the parking lot of the multi-unit housing development just prior to the shooting. Police do not believe, based on the preliminary investigation that this incident is a random event. Police believe that the victims and the shooter.
This incident marks the second time in less than a week that 5th District officers have been called to a scene of a shooting. On Friday, May, 24 police were called to the 19700 block of Crystal Rock Drive after a resident said that he witnessed an individual fire a round from a handgun in his direction. Thankfully, no one was injured. According to Goodale, an elderly resident witnessed the shot being fired while he sat on his patio.
Police responded and found a bullet hole in the exterior of the building, said Goodale. Police do not believe the two shootings are related.
