Truck Fire and Haz-Mat Clean Up Closes Northern Portion of Clarksburg Road

A trash truck fire and subsequent Hazardous Materials clean up closed the Clarksburg Road in Damascus on Wednesday morning.

Montgomery County Fire Rescue Services were called to the Clarksburg Road near Moxley Road in Damascus at about 7:30 am on May 29 for the report of a trash truck involved in a single vehicle collision and a subsequent fire. One person suffered non-life threatening injuries as the fire involved most of the cab of the trash hauling truck.

The incident also created a diesel fuel spill which required the Haz-Mat Unit to clear up. Clarksburg Road was closed between Bethesda Church Road and MD-80/Fingerboard Road. At 9:10 am officials expected the road to be closed for “an extended period of time” as the fuel spill was cleaned up.
