Police Arrest Germantown Man After Mini Crime Spree
Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from April 14 through April 20.
Officers from the 5th District-Germantown arrested a 31-year-old Germantown man in association with criminal activity which took place in the 14600 block of Clopper Road between Saturday, April 13 and Wednesday, April 17. Police arrested Kyle Pestun, of Grotto Lane in Germantown, on April 17 in connection to a commercial burglary which occurred at the Hungerford Sawmill in the 14600 block of Clopper Road in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 17. Police determined that two sheds at the sawmill were forcibly broken into by smashing the padlock on the sheds. Property was stolen from the sheds.
Police have also charged Kyle Pestun with a series of thefts from vehicle and attempted thefts from vehicles which occurred in the early morning hours of April 17 in same area of Clopper Road. One of the victims in this case spotted the suspect and chased him until officers were able to take him into custody. At that point, police found property stolen from the sawmill on his person when he was arrested.
This is not the first time Pestun has been in trouble with the law. In December of 2015, Pestun was arrested after breaking into a vehicle in Germantown and stealing over $20,000 worth of camera equipment on Christmas Day. He was convicted and sentenced to eight years suspended sentence, and three years of supervised probation.

A few days earlier, police also report that a vehicle was stolen from a commercial parking lot in the 14600 block of Clopper Road between 3:30 pm on Saturday, April 13 and 9:30 am on Monday, April 15. The vehicle, a 2000 Ford Excursion, was recovered on Friday, April 19 in a parking lot of the 19800 block of Hellingly Place in Montgomery Village. The vehicle was towed to the police lot for processing. MCDP have not connected this incident to Pestun.
Montgomery County Police also reported a strong-arm robber in the 10100 block of Ridge Manor Terrace in Damascus at 11:41 am on Friday, April 19. According to police, while sitting on a bench, a suspect assaulted the adult female victim with a piece of a 2x4 board from a nearby construction site and attempted to take her backpack. The victim fought back and the suspect fled without obtaining any property.
MCPD also reported a number of thefts from autos between April 14 and April 18 in the 19000 and 19100 blocks of Grotto Lane. Force was reported in two events; money and property were taken.
Police reported an attempted theft from auto in the 11800 block of Kigger Jack Lane in Clarksburg between 7:30 pm on April 16 and 8:30 am on April 19.
MCPD reminds residents that additional incidents may have occurred and the reports had not yet been received at the time of publication, on May 10.
