Another Friday, another Tornado Watch.
The National Weather Service has declared a Tornado Watch for Germantown and all of Montgomery County as well as all surrounding counties and the District of Columbia until 9:00, tonight, Friday, April 26. The Tornado Watch includes 13 counties in Maryland, including, Frederick, Washington, Carroll, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Howard and Prince Georges counties, and many counties in northern Virginia.
Be alert for rapidly changing weather conditions and be prepared to take shelter if a warning is issued. Thunderstorms will likely develop this afternoon.
A Tornado Watch means that conditions are right for the possible formation of tornadic activity. If a Tornado Warning is issued for your area seek shelter immediately.
This is the third Tornado Watch issued for the area in three weeks. Thankfully, neither of the previous watches produced tornados in the Germantown area, however, a Tornado Warning was issued for Bethesda and southern portions of Montgomery County as storms raced through the area last week.
