Four women and six men from the Germantown area were among the thousands who braved the rain and chill to participate and complete the 26.2 miles of the storied Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15.
The fastest runner was 29-year-old Jesse Henderson from Germantown with a time of 2:52:30, he finished 1,337th overall. Next fastest finisher from the area was John Ladesic, 37, of Germantown with a finishing time of 2:54:44.
Also finishing was Jim Gregory, a local runner who Germantown Pulse profiled last week. 46-year-old Gregory finished with a time of 3:04:01.
Other males finishing the race were; Erin Kelman, 46, of Germantown with a time of 3:07:14; Steven Murray, 65, of Germantown with a time of 3:48:04. Murray finished 45 among races in his age group; and Joon Ki Lee, 64, of Clarksburg with a time of 4:05:31.
The top finishing female from the area was Lillian Thomas, 35, of Germantown with a time of 3:36:01; followed by 30-year-old Amber Finlay of Germantown with a time of 3:42:20; also finishing was Dana Hughes, 28, of Germantown with a time of 3:49:51.
The men’s race was a near photo finish, won by Kenyan runner Lawrence Cherono with a time of 2:07:57, with the second place finisher Lelisa Desisa Benti just two seconds behind at 2:07:59. The women’s race was by Worknes Degefa, of Ethiopia, with a time of 2:23:31.
