Police Ask Public to Help ID Suspect Who Assaulted Victim in Grocery Store

March 27, 2019

Montgomery County Police are asking for the public’s help to identify and catch a suspect in an attack which took place at the Shoppers Food Store in Germantown last Monday.

Fifth District officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police continue to investigate the March 18 assault that occurred inside a Germantown grocery store. Investigators believe that this assault may have been as a result of a traffic altercation that occurred earlier in the store’s parking lot. Investigators are releasing surveillance photographs of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s help to identify him.

On Monday, March 18 at approximately 6:16 pm, 5th District officers responded to the Shoppers grocery store located at 18066 Mateny Road for the report of an assault that had just occurred inside the store.

The 21-year-old male victim stated to officers that he was operating his vehicle in the parking lot of the Shoppers grocery store when he was involved in a traffic altercation with the female driver of a gold Lincoln MKZ. The victim stated that after the altercation, he parked his vehicle and entered the Shoppers grocery store.

After shopping, the victim was preparing to leave the checkout area inside the store when he was confronted by the male suspect. The suspect referred to the prior traffic altercation that had occurred, assaulted the victim and then fled the store. Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the Shoppers and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Anyone who may have information regarding the gold Lincoln MKZ or this suspect is asked to call 5th District officers at 240-773-6200.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
