Winter Storm Warning Issued for Sunday into Monday

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Germantown and the UpCounty area of Montgomery County for the storm which is heading our way with the potential to drop up to three to six inches of snow possibly mixed with sleet Sunday afternoon and overnight into the early hours of Monday morning.

The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Warning for northwestern Montgomery County which will go into effect at 12:00 pm (noon) on Sunday, March 3 and remain until 4:00 am Monday morning. The NWS had issued a Winter Storm Watch from 10:00 pm tonight until 10:00 pm Wednesday. The rest of Montgomery County will be under and Winter Weather Advisory from noon until 4:00 am, where one to three inches of snow and sleet are expected.

“A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency,” said the NWS.

Travel could be difficult, according to the NWS. “Plan on slippery road conditions. The steadiest precipitation is expected Sunday afternoon and evening. When venturing outside, watch your first few steps taken on steps, sidewalks, and driveways, which could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury,” said the NWS.
