Germantown Man Dies in Early Morning Collision

Montgomery County Police report that a 27-year-old Germantown man was killed early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle collision when his pick-up left the road and struck a tree.

   Detectives from the MCPD Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a single-vehicle fatal collision that occurred this morning in Rockville.

   On Saturday, March 2, at approximately 04:16 am, officers from the 1st District as well as MCFRS personnel responded to Great Seneca Highway and Darnestown Road for a single-vehicle collision.

   Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2013 Ford F-150, was traveling southbound on Great Seneca Highway when, for reasons still under investigation, it left the roadway at the intersection with Darnestown Road and became airborne before striking a tree.

  The driver of the vehicle, Matthew Dirienzo Klopfer, 27, of Germantown, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

   The collision remains under investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
