Winter Storm Warning Issued for Germantown Area

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Germantown and all of Montgomery County for the storm which is heading our way with the potential to drop up to four to six inches of heavy wet snow overnight tonight into Wednesday.

The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Warning which will go into effect at 1:00 am tonight, Wednesday, February 20 and remain until 7:00 pm Wednesday. The NWS had issued a Winter Storm Watch from 10:00 pm tonight until 10:00 pm Wednesday.

“Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch expected,” said the NWS. A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

“Travel could be very difficult,” according to the NWS. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute on Wednesday. “When venturing outside, watch your first few steps taken on steps, sidewalks, and driveways, which could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury,” said the NWS.
