Firefighters Respond to Early Morning Fire on Brick Haven Way in Clarksburg

Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service units were called to the 22400 block of Brick Haven Way in Clarksburg earlier Friday morning, Feb. 1 for a fire at a townhouse.
According to fire officials, the call came into the County Emergency Communications Center at about 4:45 am. First arriving units found a fire in the exterior of the middle-of-the-row three-story townhouse, originating in the dwelling’s electrical service.
Luckily, firefighters battled bitterly cold temperatures of 12 degrees but were able to contain the fire before it had a chance to extend to the interior of the townhouse. The damage was limited to the exterior. The power company was called to cut the electrical service to the unit, and the fire was extinguished.
No injuries were reported, and all occupants were able to get out of the dwelling, which sits across the street from Rocky Hill Middle School in Clarksburg. The school was not affected. However, the four occupants of the townhouse will need to relocate temporarily because there is no power to the dwelling.
It has been a very busy week for MCFRS; this was the third early morning structure fire in the Germantown/Clarksburg area in three days. On Tuesday, a fire destroyed one home and damaged two others on Neerwider Street in Germantown, and on Wednesday morning another fire destroyed a home on Emerald Court in the Milestone neighborhood.
Beyond the Germantown area, shortly before 10:00 pm last night, MCFRS responded to a small fire in the equipment room at the Quince Orchard Swim Club on Roundabout Drive in Gaithersburg.
MCFRS also responded to a fire which destroyed a home on the 10100 block of Chapel Road in Potomac last night. Units arriving at the two-story single-family home encountered heavy fire. The home was believed to have been empty, no injuries were reported, but the home was a total loss estimated between $500,000 and $1.0 million as the fire was too heavy for interior firefighting operations.
According to fire officials, on Thursday, Jan. 31 County fire and EMS crews responded to 365 total incidents, including 249 EMS, 82 fires, and 35 other calls.
