New County Executive to Hold Operating Budget Forum in Germantown
Just as his predecessor Ike Leggett did for much of his tenure as County Executive, new County Executive Marc Elrich will host a series of Operating Budget Forums throughout the County to gauge the importance of items in the budget various individuals and entities in disparate sections of the County. The first stop on the forum tour will in Germantown.
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will hold the first of five budget forums on Monday, Jan. 14, to seek input from residents about Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20) Operating Budget priorities. The Budget Forum is slated to begin at 7:00 pm at the BlackRock Center for the Arts, at 12901 Town Commons Drive in Germantown.
“It is very important for me to hear from the public as we prepare the budget,” said Elrich. “I invite residents, our business community and nonprofit representatives to attend any of the upcoming budget forums to let me know your priorities.”
Additional FY20 Operating Budget forums are scheduled as follows:
• Wednesday, Jan. 16 – 7:00 pm. – Silver Spring Civic Building, One Veterans Place, Silver Spring.
• Tuesday, Jan. 22 – 7:00 pm. – Eastern Montgomery Regional Services Center, 3300 Briggs Chaney Road, Silver Spring.
• Wednesday, Jan. 23 – 7:00 pm. – Mid-County Recreation Center, 2004 Queensguard Road, Silver Spring.
• Monday, Feb. 4 – 7:00 pm. – Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, 4301 East West Hwy, Bethesda.
The County Executive will announce his Recommended FY20 Operating Budget on March 15.
The County Council approves the operating budget at the end of May. Sign language interpreter services will be provided only upon request with notice as far in advance as possible, but no less than 72 hours prior to the event.
