Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Collision on Middlebrook Road

UPDATE: Shortly before noon, on Thursday, Dec. 20 Montgomery County Police confirmed that this pedestrian collision was fatal and a Germantown woman has died as result of her injuries. 

 

A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a vehicle in Germantown on Wednesday night. Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a serious collision involving a pedestrian.

   Police and Montgomery County Fire Rescue were called to the area of Middlebrook Road and Ridgecrest Drive in Germantown for the report of collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. According to police, the incident occurred at about 8:17 pm on December 19.

   The pedestrian, identified as Joyce Asare Brown, 50, of Quail Woods Drive in Germantown, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Shortly before noon, on Thursday, Dec. 20, MCPD confirmed that Joyce Asare Brown had succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.  

   Preliminary investigation has revealed that the pedestrian was crossing eastbound Middlebrook Road at Ridgecrest Drive when she was struck by a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta that was traveling east on Middlebrook Road.

   The driver of the Volkswagen, identified as Christian Alexander Martinez, 20, of Emory Grove Road in Gaithersburg, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

   This collision remains under investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
