MoCo Public Libraries Offer Winter Break Fun

Families looking for fun and creative ways to keep their children engaged during the winter break have plenty of options with Montgomery County Public Libraries. All activities are free. Children of all ages are welcome unless the activity description specifically identifies the event as appropriate for a specific age group.

The Germantown Public Library will host a Gingerbread Man Hunt every day from December 24 through December 30 during library hours. Young hunters can search the library to find the Gingerbread Man who is hiding throughout the library to earn rewards. Hiding places will change every day. The Germantown Public Library is located at 19840 Century Boulevard in Germantown.

Youngsters between three and eight and their parents can ring in the New Year early at the Damascus Library on Monday, Dec. 31 from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm. The Happy NOON Year’s Eve party will feature stories, crafts, and a count-down celebration to ring in the “Noon Year!” Sponsored by Friends of the Library, Damascus Chapter. The Damascus Library is located at 9701 Main Street in Damascus.

Other events at libraries throughout the county include: Christiana Drapkin’s Jingle Bell Jazz for Kids: A sing-along and other related activities at the Twinbrook Library, 202 Meadow Hall Drive in Rockville on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 11:00 am.

The Davis Library in Bethesda will host an Interactive Movie – Frozen on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 2:00 pm. Enjoy a special showing of the movie Frozen, where audience participation is required. Registration is required. The Davis Library is located at 6400 Democracy Blvd. in Bethesda.

Also at the Davis Library, a Winter Break Teen Hangout on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 2:00 pm, where teens in grades 8 through 12 are invited to enjoy an afternoon of crafts, snacks and fun. Registration is required.
