Police Nab Two After a String of Burglaries and Auto Thefts

Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from October 28 through November 2.

Montgomery County Police have arrested two people in Germantown in connection with a string of burglaries and auto thefts which took place in various areas in the County. Police say that 25-year-old, Luis Alphonso Bermudez, of Hyattsville and a 16-year-old male are responsible for four incidents of burglary between November 4 and November 13.

According to police, Bermudez and the teen would check unlocked cars for garage door openers, and use the remote controls to gain access to garage and the home. The two were arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 13 after a residential garage burglary in the 11500 block of Seneca Forest Circle in Germantown.

Police say that on two occasions the Hyattsville duo also stole a vehicle after finding the keys inside. The earlier incidents took place in Rockville, two on Nov. 4 — the first in the 11300 block of Morning Gate Drive, the next in the in the 8100 block of Jeb Stuart Road, and the third in the 11600 block of Milbern Drive between approximately 12:00 am, and approximately 6:00 am on Nov. 7. In the last two incidents, police say the suspects stole a vehicle from the driveway after locating the keys in the garage. The vehicles from both burglaries were recovered later on Nov. 4.

MCPD reports that an adult male was attacked by three suspects as he walked in the area of Middlebrook Road and Fetlock Drive at about 7:00 am on Friday, Nov. 2. Police said the victim was walking when he was the victim was assaulted by three unknown suspects tackled him, but he was able to fight them off. They didn’t take anything from him. Police say the suspects were three White or Hispanic males of unknown age.

Montgomery County Police arrested a 24-year-old Germantown man in connection with a robbery which was set up over a social media selling app. Police arrested Gary Angelo Rich, 24, of the 19500 block of Scenery Drive in Germantown after police allege he set up a strong-arm robbery which occurred in the 19600 block of Gunners Branch Road at about 9:30 pm on Oct. 28. The victim had placed an ad to sell his smartphone on the What’s Up app and was contacted by the suspect to meet to conduct the transaction. Police say Rich pushed the victim down and took the smartphone.

MCPD report a vehicle was stolen from the unit block of Valley Park Court in Damascus between 7:00 pm on November 9 and 7:32 am on November 10.

Police report that a residential burglary occurred in the 23700 block of Clarksmead Drive in Clarksburg, between approximately 7:00 am and approximately 3:30 pm on Nov. 8. No signs of forced entry; property was taken.
