Detectives Investigating Police-Involved Shooting in Germantown

November 11, 2018

Montgomery County Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting which took place Sunday afternoon in Germantown.

At 2:41 pm officers were called to the unit block of Cross Laurel Court in Germantown for the report of a man with a gun pointing it at others and acting odd.

Officers from the 5th District responded and found an adult white male in the cul-de-sac with a gun. There are unconfirmed reports that the man fired on officers, but police have not confirmed that the man fired at officers. During the encounter, the male was shot. It is not clear how many MCPD officers fired. However, the man was transported by MCFRS EMS to a local hospital and remains in serious condition. No officers were injured in the incident.

Fifth District Commander Mark Plazinski and Montgomery County Police Chief Thomas Manger were both seen at the scene as detectives from the Major Crimes Division were conducting an investigating.

Cross Laurel Court is a dead-end street located between Blunt Road and Valley Bend Drive, which is two blocks from Capt. James Daly Elementary School. Cross Laurel Court intersects with Cross Laurel Drive. The massive police response to this scene closed Cross Laurel Drive. Police were preventing residents of the cul-de-sac from returning to their homes while the investigation is taking place.

This is an ongoing investigation. As information is confirmed it will be released to the public. Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
