Damascus Man Arrested in Connection with Darnestown Home Invasion

Montgomery County Police have arrested a Damascus man in connection with a home invasion robbery where a man was tied up and pistol whipped in Darnestown on Oct. 27.

On Wednesday, Nov. 7, police announced the arrest of Sheraz Shoukat Shah, 25, of the 28400 block of Kemptown Road in Damascus on home invasion robbery, and firearm-related offenses.

According to police, detectives determined that four male suspects, who were wearing masks and one of whom was armed with a handgun, forced entry into the occupied home. The suspects confronted the residents in the home and demanded property from the home. Police say Shah, who was armed with the handgun assaulted an adult male resident by striking him in the head with the gun. The suspects obtained property from the home and from the residents and fled.

During the investigation, detectives developed Shah as the suspect who assaulted the victim with the handgun. On Wednesday, Shah was arrested at

his residence on the strength of an arrest warrant charging him with home invasion, armed robbery, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being held without bond.

Detectives continue to investigate this home invasion robbery and have reason to believe that this robbery was not a random event.
