Another Week, Another Serious Collision at Fredrick Road and Gunners Branch Road
Local motorists once again had to deal with increased traffic through Germantown as southbound Frederick Road was closed for a few hours on Thursday morning as another serious traffic collision force the road closure and sent two men to the hospital.
According to Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service senior spokesman Pete Piringer, MCFRS units responded to the intersection of Frederick Road (MD-355) and Gunners Branch Road at about 10:00 am for the reports of a serious collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian.
Piringer said the initial 9-1-1 caller said that one vehicle had become air-born and crashed into another vehicle. Fire officials could not confirm if any vehicle did take to the air, but EMS evaluated multiple patients, and MCFRS transported two adult males to local hospitals with traumatic Priority 2 injuries.
Montgomery County Police closed the road to traffic southbound from Middlebrook Road to Gunners Branch Road for a few hours as crews worked to clean up and investigate the incident.
The crash was the second at that intersection in two weeks, on October 22 a truck ran a red light at and crashed into a Montgomery County School Bus forcing several people to be transported to local hospitals, including two special needs students on the school bus.
