Former Screamin’ Eagle Earns Goalkeeper of the Year in College

Former Seneca Valley High School graduate Victoria Pilpel has been voted the 2018 New England College Conference Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the year, it was announced this week.

   Pilpel, a freshman at Becker College in Leicester, Mass. is the backstop for a defense that held opponents to a mere eight goals in conference play, with seven of those coming against top-seeded New England College. The Becker Hawks claimed the second seed in the NECC Tournament.

   As a rookie, Pilpel started in 11 games for the Hawks, recording three shutouts, which is tops in the league. Her 1.81 goals-against average also leads the conference. Overall, the freshman had a .708 save percentage. Pilpel started in every conference game, recording a 4-2 record, and helping the Hawks clinch the second seed in the tournament.
