A Germantown man was in a Pennsylvania court last week facing charges of stealing the debit card of his ex-roommate and spending $15,000 on pornographic websites over a three-year period, according to police.
Parker Schoem, 21, of Germantown, a student at Penn State University, used a former roommate’s debit card to run up $15,000 in charges on adult websites for over three years, according to media reports.
In August, Schoem’s ex-roommate became aware of about $10,000 was missing from his bank account, after returning to Penn State after serving with the South Korean Army. State College Police tracked the purchase information to miscellaneous pornographic websites linked to Schoem’s email address, according to Centre Daily Times.
Schoem is facing four felonies — theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking, unauthorized access device use and identity theft. He was arrested in September. Police said that the ex-roommate never gave Schoem his debit card information. It is suspected that Schoem overheard and memorized the number while the ex-roommate ordered chicken wings.
Schoem allegedly confessed to using the card to access pornographic pay-per-view events. He said it was not his intention to hurt his former roommate.
