Former Jag Named National Freshman Football Player of the Week

Former Northwest Jaguar and current Monmouth University true freshman running back Juwon Farri has been named STATS FCS National Freshman Player of the Week.

Farri, in his second career start, tied a Monmouth record with 263 all-purpose yards in Monmouth's 38-21 win over Campbell on Saturday. The freshman carried the ball 22 times for 239 yards, coming within nine yards of breaking a ten-year old school record for rushing yards in a game. Farri scored twice and caught a pair of passes for 24 yards in Monmouth's Big South Conference victory.

In seven career games for Monmouth, Farri has eclipsed the 100-yard mark four times, including the last three contests. The 2018 Northwest High School graduate leads the Big South in rushing with 674 yards and has found the endzone six times. He is averaging an impressive 8.75 yards per carry is second in the nation behind Eastern Washington's Sam McPhearson (8.76 yards per carry).

Farri and the Monmouth Hawks are 5-2 on the season. The Hawks will head to Clinton, SC to face Presbyterian at 2:30 on Saturday.
