Three Families Displaced After Apartment Fire

October 25, 2018

Three Germantown families have been displaced after a fire in an apartment building last night, according to Montgomery County fire officials.

Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service senior spokesman Pete Piringer, said that MCFRS were called to an apartment building at 19500 Gunners Branch Road in Germantown for a report of a fire at about 9:50 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 24.

Piringer said that arriving units found a defective electrical panel at the two-story apartment building, which created a small electrical fire. MCFRS personnel quickly got the fire under control. As a result of the fire, Pepco had to be called to shut down the electricity to the building. No injuries were reported. He said that three families were displayed, including six adults and 10 children, it is unclear how long they would be displaced from their homes.
