Police Investigating Shooting Death in Germantown
A 20-year-old man has died from a gunshot wound after a shooting at a townhouse neighborhood in Germantown.
Montgomery County Police have confirmed that detectives from the Major Crimes Division – Homicide Section are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Churchill Ridge Circle in Germantown overnight on Oct. 23.
According to police, 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue units were called to the 12900 block of Churchill Ridge Circle at approximately 12:30 am on Tuesday. Upon arrival, first responders found a 20-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound outside.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim will not be identified until family is notified.
The shooting remains an active and ongoing investigation. As additional information can be confirmed, it will be released. Anyone with information regarding this death investigation is urged to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240.773.5070.
This shooting marks the first homicide in Germantown seven months. Back in March, the body of a woman was found in a burning car off Wisteria Drive in March. Police arrested and charged, Stephan Lunningham, of Germantown, with the murder of Angela Thomas in that case.
