Metropolitan Ballet Theatre & Academy Brings Dance to Clarksburg

If you are looking for a ballet studio in Montgomery County, then you’re in luck; Metropolitan Ballet Theatre & Academy’s (MBT) is currently enrolling students at its brand new location Clarksburg location, which hosted a Grand Opening on Thursday, Oct. 18.

“We are excited to expand into the UpCounty region with MBT’s well-known, exceptional dance education programs and outreach,” says Anita Anderson, President of MBT’s Board of Directors. “Our students, faculty, and the community will see significant benefits from this expansion.”

Students, ages three through adults, have a new location to dance. While focused on classical ballet education and pre-professional training, MBT also offers training in jazz, modern, contemporary, and hip hop.

The Gaithersburg-Germantown and Clarksburg Chambers of Commerce supported MBT and celebrated the grand opening of its second, location by conducting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the new studio at 22530 Gateway Center Drive in Clarksburg.

“This is a day of celebration for MBT,” said MBT’s Executive Director, Paula Ross, “We are very excited to open our space to our community, our neighbors, our friends, and donors and

community partners and sponsors, as well as the people who worked on this project and made it come together and supported it along the way. Palidar was kind enough to bring in lunch of us and many of our community partners are here to celebrate with us. We just could not be happier. We have a lot of people to thank for making this project a realty. Our state and county elected leaders have really gone to bat for us to help us building this new facility and get it operational so we can bring arts to the UpCounty region through all of our programing and performances.”

The new site boasts over 7000 square feet of space, with three large classroom studios. MBT is known for providing the highest caliber of dance education and training, offering professional performing opportunities to its students, and presenting a robust community outreach program. This expansion will allow its programs to more fully serve the UpCounty region.

“MBT’s Gaithersburg location has over 460 students, and we have the capability to do the same thing here,” said Ross. “We are starting slow, we are not programing all of our studio space right away. We are going to build that slowly as we assess the demand for different types of dance disciplines and age groups.”

MBT’s current home in Gaithersburg will also continue to serve the community. Learn more at: mbtdance.org.
