Kenny White’s Songwriting Wizardry Comes to BlackRock
BlackRock Center for the Arts will kick off its popular 3rd Thursday series with International Songwriting Award winner, Kenny White on Thursday, October 18 at 7:30 pm. White will be the first of many talented singer-songwriters to represent the 3rd Thursday series at BlackRock over the course of the 2018-19 season.
There is no doubt that Kenny White took the road less traveled in his musical journey spanning across multiple decades. From opening for Linda Ronstadt during her legendary “Living in the USA” tour, to being a catalyst behind Shawn Colvin’s Grammy-nominated song, “I Don’t Know Why”, Kenny White has done it all and then some.
At the age of 21 the New York City native set foot for Boston where he would end up touring for folk icons Jonathan Edwards and Livingston Taylor. He then nestled into the NYC studio scene throughout the 80’s and 90’s where he would write and record hundreds of internationally recognizable commercials for the better part of 18 years.
White chose to step away from the jingle business and devote himself to his musical career releasing his debut album Uninvited Guest in 2002. With high praise from numerous publications like the New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle, critics have raved about each one of Whites projects since his debut 16 years ago. Kenny White hit the road again after releasing his eclectic and lyrically driven album “Long List of Priors.”
BlackRock’s 3rd Thursday’s features various accomplished singer songwriters throughout the 2018-19 season. 3rd Thursdays is an intimate night of fun and folk music with live performances from:
• Kenny White: October 18
• Danika & the Jed: November 11
• Beth Wood: January 17
• Victoria Vox: February 21
• Missy Raines Trio: March 21
• Cary Cooper: April 4
“Folk singers convey an aura that make the in-person listening experience unique to any other genre of music. That differentiation resonates with BlackRock’s goal to separate itself as the most diverse performing arts venue in the area; we are very excited to bring in these international singer songwriters so they can communicate with audiences on a personal level through their incredible penmanship,” said Alyona Ushe, Executive Director, BlackRock Center for the Arts.
