Pickup Slams into Townhouse Forces Evacuation

September 10, 2018

A pickup truck slammed into a townhouse in Germantown creating a gas leak, which required the folks inside the townhouse to evacuate the building.

The collision between a red Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck and the garage of the end-of-the-row townhouse at 12822 Rexmore Drive, at the corner of Pinnacle Drive in Germantown, occurred at about 5:00 pm on Friday, Sept. 7. It is unclear how the truck ended up hitting the building.

According to Pete Piringer, senior spokesman for Montgomery County Fire Rescue Services the building’s occupants were evacuated due to a gas leak which was created when the pickup truck slammed into the building. No injuries were reported.

MCFRS officials said that the damage to the structure was severe enough to require a building inspector to respond to the scene to survey the damage.
