Man Robbed at Gunpoint on Wisteria Drive

Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from August 13 through August 28.

Police report that an adult male victim was robbed at gunpoint as he walked in the area of Wisteria Drive and Father Hurley Boulevard in Germantown in the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 19. According to police, the victim left a friend’s house on Wisteria Drive at 4:48 am and was walking toward Father Hurley Blvd. when he noticed two men standing on the road ahead. The victim crossed the street to avoid the men, however, they followed him. The two men, a Black male in his twenties and White male between 30- and 35-years-old approached the victim. The White male took out a hand gun and pointed it at the victim’s head, while the other man searched his pockets. The suspects took $600 and fled the area on foot. According to police, after the initial report, the victim stopped cooperating with the detectives investigating the incident.

5th District police also responded to an attempted strong arm robbery which occurred in the area of Ridgecrest Drive and Hickory Tree Way in Germantown at approximately 7:58 pm on Monday, Aug. 27. According to police, a male victim was walking when he suddenly felt someone attempt to reach into his back pocket and grab his wallet. The suspect then forced the victim to the ground from behind and attempted to take his wallet, but the victim was able to fight the suspect off. The victim reported that two Black suspects then ran away from the scene as police were being called.

A residential garage burglary and theft from vehicle occurred at the same residence in the 12600 block of Foreman Boulevard in Clarksburg at approximately 10:27 am on Tuesday, Aug. 28. No signs of forced entry, the garage door was reported to have been left open and vehicle left unlocked; cash was taken. The suspect is reported to be a Black male in his twenties.

MCPD also reported a residential burglary occurred in the 11400 block of Applegrath Way in Germantown between approximately 2:00 pm and approximately 8:00 pm on Monday, Aug. 27. No signs of forced entry, a door was reported have been left unlocked; property was taken.

Police reported four thefts from vehicles occurred between August 20 and August 28. Affected streets included Brink Road, Maryland Manor Court, and Gateshead Circle in Germantown. No force was used to open the vehicles, but cash and property were taken.

MCPD reminds residents that additional incidents may have occurred and the reports had not yet been received at the time of publication, on September 7.
