Deadbeat Dad Sentenced to Five Years in Jail for Not Paying Child Support, Forging Documents

Last week, a Germantown man was sentenced to 28 years in jail by a Frederick County judge for failure to make nearly $55,000 worth of child-support payments.

On August 27, Judge William R. Nicklas, Jr sentenced 56-year-old Ronald Dixon, Jr., of the 18500 block of Harmony Woods Lane in Germantown to a total of 28 years in the Division of Correction, with all but five years suspended and will be placed on three years of supervised probation upon release.

According to Frederick County State’s Attorney, Dixon was convicted Constructive Criminal Contempt; Non-Support of a Minor; Forgery-Private Document; Possession of a Forged Document; and Issuing a False Document on August 2 by a Frederick County jury, which deliberated for less than ten minutes before returning a guilty verdict against Dixon.

During the trial, Frederick Assistant State’s Attorneys William Prunka and Richard Gibbs proved that Dixon was in criminal contempt of his order to pay child support and criminal non-support of his now seven year-old minor child. “Dixon has never paid child support, and at the time of charging, his arrears exceeded $44,000,” said a press release from the State’s Attorney’s Office.

The State further proved that Dixon counterfeited a Motor Vehicle Agency compliance letter, normally issued by the Frederick County Department of Social Services, in order to obtain his driving privilege after it had been suspended for child support non-compliance. Dixon altered a previously issued letter, and forged the signature of his case agent. He then issued the document at the MVA, and his privilege was fraudulently reinstated, according to prosecutors.
