Teen Arrested for Shoplifting and Brandishing Knife at Security
Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from July 30 through August 18.
Police report that a juvenile suspect was arrested on charges of theft and aggravated assault after he was caught shoplifting. Police were called to the Kohl’s store located at 20918 Frederick Road at approximately 5:32 pm on Thursday, Aug. 2 after a suspect shoplifted a pair of earbuds from the store. When he was stopped by store security in the parking lot, the teenager displayed what police described as a Swiss Army Knife at the security guard. Police were able to get a description and photo of the suspect from a store surveillance camera which was transmitted to patrol units. A few moments later the 17-year-old from Germantown suspect was located and arrested.
MCPD also reported a commercial burglary occurred at Ruppert Nurseries located at 7950 Hawkins Creamery Road at approximately 4:00 pm on Wednesday, Aug. 1 and approximately 5:00 am on Thursday, Aug. 2. No signs of forced entry, a door was reported to have been left unlocked; property was taken.
Police also reported a commercial burglary of the laundry room located inside The Hamptons At Town Center at 19506 Crystal Rock Drive occurred between approximately 12:00 am and approximately 8:00 am on Tuesday, Aug. 7. Forced entry; cash was taken.
MCPD also reported a residential burglary occurred in the 14000 block of Stilt Street in Clarksburg between approximately 4:00 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 7 and approximately 6:30 am on Wednesday, Aug. 8. Forced entry; nothing was taken.
Police reported a number of theft from autos between July 31 and August 7. Police remind residents not to make it easy for car thieves. Take your keys and valuables with you and remember to lock your doors when leaving your vehicle unattended.
Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between Tuesday, July 31 and Tuesday, Aug. 7. Affected streets included Butterwick Way, Stedwick Drive, Welbeck Way, and Ridgeline Drive. No force; property was taken.
MCPD reminds residents that additional incidents may have occurred and the reports had not yet been received at the time of publication, on August 22.
