Game Preserve Road Reopens, Sinkhole and Culvert Repaired
Montgomery County Highway Services reports that Game Preserve Road is now open in both directions after a culvert collapse created a sinkhole in the two-lane road on July 23. The sinkhole and the subsequent repairs required the road be closed for 12 days.
The Game Preserve Road sinkhole appeared in a portion of the roadway near the Great Seneca Creek, after days of rain, and was caused when a culvert pipe collapsed. Crews had to expand the hole in an effort to shore up the culvert and create new concrete culvert under the roadway to allow water to flow into the creek.
The sinkhole, the second to appear in the UpCounty this summer, appeared just west of MD-355/Frederick Road in the southbound lane will have Game Preserve Road closed between Clopper Road and Frederick Road.
