Poolesville Crash Requires Helicopter Medevac

Montgomery County Fire Rescue responded to a violent crash near the intersection of Fisher Avenue (MD-107) and Wootton Avenue in Poolesville on Thursday, July 12. MCFRS required the assistance of Maryland State Police Helicopter to airlift one patient from the scene to a trauma hospital.

MCFRS units responded to the crash at about 6:45 am and found an overturned pickup near the front door of a home at 19547 Fisher Avenue in Poolesville. The truck struck a tree and suffered severe damage.

According to MCFRS senior spokesman Pete Piringer, EMS evaluated one adult patient with Priority 2 trauma injuries. The patient was flown out via medevac helicopter. A Priority 2 patient is one with serious medical issues requiring emergency medical attention but not immediately endangering the patient’s life. MCPD and MCFRSO closed Frisher Avenue for a time to allow for units to tend to the victim.

The patient was transferred to an ambulance and transported to the helicopter landing zone at nearby Poolesville Elementary School at 19565 Fisher Avenue. Maryland State Police Trooper 4 landed in the parking lot and the patient was transported to a trauma hospital.
