Germantown-Area Teen Shot and Killed in Frederick Sunday Morning
A Germantown-area teenager was shot and killed at a house party in Frederick in the early Morning hours of Sunday, May 13, according to the Frederick Police Department.
At approximately 1:46 am, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to a residence in the 1800 block of Weybridge Road in Frederick for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult female with a gunshot wound in her upper body, and a juvenile male with a gunshot wound in his lower leg, according to a Frederick Police Department release.
The female victim was identified as Genesis Marie McCarter-Berretto, 18, of Gaithersburg. Germantown Pulse has learned that McCarter-Berretto grew up in the Germantown Park area of Germantown and at one time she attended Roberto Clemente Middle School. The other male juvenile victim was not identified.
Responding police administered lifesaving efforts on the female prior to EMS arrival. EMS arrived and assumed lifesaving efforts, but ultimately pronounced the female dead.
According to reports, the second victim was a 13-year-old boy who had been shot in the lower leg.
At about 8:53 am on Sunday, Frederick Police detectives located and arrested Ean Lanell Davis-Lattimore, 17, of Frederick. He was taken into custody without incident and is being charged as an adult with one count of First Degree Murder and one count of Second Degree Murder for the death of McCarter-Berretto; one count Attempted First-Degree Murder and one county Second-Degree Murder for the shooting of the juvenile male victim; and two counts of First Degree Assault.
According to reporting by the Frederick News-Post, police believe that a fight broke out at the party being held after the Frederick High School Prom. According to court documents, investigators believe that neither McCarter-Berretto nor the boy were the intended targets of the gunfire. According to reports, the gunman stood outside the house and fired six to eight shots into the house where the party was held.
