Firefighters Respond to Van Fire in Boyds

West Old Baltimore Road in Boyds was closed for about an hour on Wednesday afternoon as firefighters from the Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service responded to a fully engulfed van fire.

Firefighters were called to West Old Baltimore Road near Comstat Drive in Boyds for a work van on fire at about 2:30 pm on Wednesday, March 28. When Engine 734 arrived, firefighters found a gray work van well-involved with fire, according to MCFRS senior spokesman Pete Piringer. The drive had self-rescued, and no injuries were reported.

Piringer said the fire started in the van’s engine compartment and spread to the passenger and cargo compartment.

The fire forced MCPD to close West Old Baltimore Road in both directions between Frederick Road and Clarksburg Road for about 45 minutes.
