MCPD Investigate Body Found in Burned Car Near Middle School
Investigators from the Major Crimes Unit of Montgomery County Police and the Montgomery County Office of Fire and Explosive Investigations are investigating an incident which occurred in pre-dawn hours on Wednesday morning across the street from Martin Luther King Middle School in Germantown.
At 4:22 am on Wednesday, March 14, the 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center received a call for a brush fire in a wooded area located in the 13700 block of Wisteria Drive.
Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the wooded area and located a vehicle on fire. Fire & Rescue personnel extinguished the fire and located a deceased person in the vehicle. Major Crimes detectives responded to the scene and are investigating this death, according to MCPD spokesperson Rebecca Innocenti. Police have not ruled this death a homicide.
The vehicle was located on a service road used to gain access to the CSX railroad tracks which run parallel with Wisteria Drive in that area. The burned vehicle was sitting on the access road low portion of the ravine.
Police did not release any information about victim other than to say the body would be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further investigation.
