Local Printmakers “Making Our Mark” in BlackRock Gallery Through March

Seven local printmakers present a variety of prints along with drawings, paintings, assemblages, and small sculptures in the “Making Our Mark” exhibition which is on display in the Kay Gallery at BlackRock Center for the Arts through Saturday, April 7.

The group includes award-winning artists Jenny Freestone, Pauline Jakobsberg, Lee Newman, Margaret Adams Parker, Terry Svat, Ellen Verdon Winkler, and Max-Karl Winkler.

The exhibition is highlighted by examples of a wide range of printmaking processes and techniques such as drypoint, etching, aquatint, woodcut, direct gravure, photogravure, silkscreen, monotype and collagraph. All members of this group have widely exhibited their work regionally, nationally, and internationally, and several have works held in public collections which include the Library of Congress, Corcoran Gallery of Art, National Gallery of Art, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

During the exhibition, the seven artists will lead the activities at a free Community Art Day: Printmaking event on Saturday, March 17 at the nonprofit arts center. The drop-in event will run from 11:00 am through 1:00 pm and inlcude demonstrations of printmaking techniques, guided hands-on printmaking activities, and tours of the “Making Our Mark” exhibition.
