Seneca Valley High School Mourns the Death of a Student

Seneca Valley High School lost a member of its student body on Wednesday.

It was announced through an email to Seneca Valley the community from Principal Dr. Marc Cohen that student Viet Boa Quach had died off-campus on Wednesday Feb. 21.

“It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that one of our students, Viet Boa Quach, has died unexpectedly. All of us want you to know that we are here to help you in any way we can,” wrote Cohen.

Cohen asked the school community to not spread rumors regarding the death of their classmate. “Rumors may begin to circulate, and we ask that you do not spread rumors since they may turn out to be inaccurate and can be deeply hurtful and unfair to Viet Boa as well as his family and friends,” wrote Cohen. “

The letter from the school said that a support team of counselors would be at the school on to provide counseling and support for students. “Each of us will react to Viet Bao’s death in our own way, and we need to be respectful of each other. Feeling sad is a normal response to any loss,” said the letter.

The details of the death were not discussed in the letter. Montgomery County Police confirmed that investigators had opened a death investigation into the death of the student, according to Officer Rick Goodale of the MCPD public information office. “However, no foul play is suspected,” said Goodale. He also said that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was conducting an autopsy.
