Wintery Mix Expected for Sunday as Winter Weather Advisory Posted

February 3, 2018

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Germantown area beginning at 10:00 am until 4:00 pm Sunday, Feb. 4. A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties.

“A wintry mix of snow...sleet and freezing rain expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations ranging from a coating up to one-half inch. A glaze of ice accumulation from freezing rain is expected to be less than one- tenth of an inch,” said the National Weather Service.

Snow, sleet and freezing rain will overspread the area between 10:00 am and noon. Precipitation will change to all freezing rain by 2:00 pm before changing to rain by late Sunday afternoon, said the National Weather Service. “Plan on slippery road conditions from snow and ice. Visibility will be reduced to under 2 miles at times in precipitation and fog,” said the advisory.
