Northwest Avenges Loss to Clarksburg, 59-51
The Northwest Jags avenged their first loss of the season with a 59-51 home win over the Clarksburg Coyotes on Tuesday night. The Coyotes ended Northwest’s hopes for a perfect season 10 days ago with a 65-62 overtime victory.
The Jags outscored Clarksburg nine to six in the first quarter as the two teams tested each other defensively. Things opened up in the second quarter as the Coyotes outscored Northwest 16 to 15, but the Jags still took a two-point, 24-22, lead into halftime.
Northwest came out hot in the third scoring 21 points, due in large part to senior Adrian Thomas’ eight-third quarter points, but the Jags got points from five other players in the third which allowed to open up a seven-point lead by the end of the quarter.
