Police Ask Public to Identify Suspects in McDonald’s Double Shooting

Police are asking the public’s help to identify two men which detectives believed to be involved in the December 12 shooting of two men near the McDonald’s restaurant in the 19600 block of Gunners Branch Road in Germantown.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 5th District Investigative Section continue to investigate the shooting and have released a video which police say shows the two suspects walking past the adjacent 7-Eleven prior to the shooting.

Detectives have obtained video surveillance from a business in the 19600 block of Gunners Branch Road that investigators believe captured the two suspects prior to the shooting. Detectives are releasing that video and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects.

The video shows two men, one wearing a long black coat and black pants, and the other wearing a tan coat with a gray hoodie, gray pants and white shoes as they walk past the 7-Eleven which is located right next to the McDonald’s where the victims ran to after the shooting. In fact, the McDonald’s was shot at and was damaged when a bullet put a hole in one of the eatery’s windows.

Police are unsure if one or both suspects in the video did the shooting, however, they believe that both men were present at the time the shots were fired.

While the identities of the victims remain undisclosed, police said that the first victim is a 26-year-old male was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body and is a 27-year-old male was suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body. Both victims were transported to an area hospital. Their injuries were described as non-life threatening.

Officer Rick Goodale, a spokesman for the MCPD, said that each victim was shot one time, but he could not say how many more shots were fired in the incident, which took place at about 6:30 pm on Tuesday night, December 12.

Police do not believe that this was a random shooting. Investigators believe that both victims knew and were associates of the person or persons who shot them. Officials would not say if this was a gang-related incident or if this could drug related.

Anyone with information regarding this double shooting is urged to call the 5th District Investigative Section at 240-773-6237.
