Police Investigate Crash That Left One Man in ‘Grave Condition’

Montgomery County Police are investigating a crash which injured two people, and left one man fighting for his life. The crash happened last night on Brink Road near Cog Wheel Way. Police said that speed and alcohol use by the driver are possible contributing factors in this collision.

Police report that the MCPD Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the single-vehicle collision that occurred Thursday night, Dec. 28 at about 9:30 pm in the area of Brink Road and Cog Wheel Way.

Police are investigating why a 2015 BMW 328i traveling east on Brink Road left the roadway and struck multiple sections of wooden fence along Brink Road. Initial reports of the crash by Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service senior spokesman Pete Piringer said that the vehicle crashed through a fence and caught fire.

MCFRS reported that two people were transferred by EMS from the scene of the accident, with serious injuries, one with life-threatening injuries. An MCPD press release said that the adult male driver of the BMW was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. “He remains in grave condition. His identity will be released once the family is located and notified,” said MCPD. The adult female passenger in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to MCPD.
