Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Wednesday Morning
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Germantown area beginning at 2:00 am Wednesday until 11:00 am Wednesday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. “Light snow likely. Plan on slippery road conditions, including during the morning commute on Wednesday. Total snow accumulation of a coating to 1 inch is likely,” said the National Weather Service.
The area is bracing for a small storm which will bring wintery weather to the Germantown area and all of Montgomery County and surrounding counties. Snow is expected begin falling overnight after 2:00 am, Wednesday, Dec. 27. “Any light snow that does fall can cause many roads to quickly turn icy due to the recently cold conditions. This could lead to dangerous traveling conditions, multiple accidents, and extensive delays during the morning commute for Wednesday,” according to the National Weather Service.
There is a potential winter commuting hazard statement for the Washington and Baltimore metro areas for the Wednesday morning commute. A period of light accumulating snow is possible between 4:00 am and 10:00 am Wednesday, said the National Weather Service.
