Worker Rescued After Being Trapped Under Overturned Excavator

Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service units were called to the area of the Cabin Branch construction site off Clarksburg Road in Boyds, just south of the Clarksburg Premium Outlets, for the report of a worker who had become trapped by an overturned excavator.

According to MCFRS senior spokesman Pete Piringer, a construction worker on the site became trapped and was injured when 2,000 pound Caterpillar excavator toppled over while working on an incline. The machine fell over on its side and pinned the worker.

MCFRS Technical Rescue Team extricated the worker who was then transported to a local hospital with Priority 1 trauma by EMS. The incident happened several hundred yards from Clarksburg Road. About a dozen fire rescue crews were called the scene to help with the rescue.
