Police Investigating Shooting Near McDonald's on Gunners Branch Road in Germantown
Two men were shot Tuesday night near the McDonald’s restaurant on Gunners Branch Road in Germantown.
The shooting took place shortly before 6:21 pm in the area of the fast food restaurant at the intersection of Gunners Branch Road and Frederick Road/Rt. 355 on Tuesday, December 12. Both victims, who have not been identified by police, were transported by Montgomery County Fire Rescue to local hospitals.
One victim suffered what appears to be non-life-threatening injuries and the status of the second victim is unknown, as he was still in surgery at 9:00 pm according to MCPD spokesman Capt. Paul Starks. Police have not released the exact ages of the victims.
“Investigators do not think that this was a random incident,” said Starks. “They think that there has been some sort of association between the victims and the shooter, or shooters,” Starks confirmed that police do not know how many suspects may be involved.
He said the shootings took place outside or near the McDonald’s and the victims ran into the fast-food chain at 19660 Gunners Branch Road for shelter after the shooting.
Investigators and officers from the MCPD 5th District were on the scene of the incident, which was taped off with crime scene tape. Police closed Gunner Branch Road in front of the restaurant in both directions as they investigated. Four officers were seen walking the sidewalk and curb area searching for shell-casings or other evidence.
After the incident was reported, police had set up a perimeter throughout the neighborhood, MCPD cruisers could be seen on Middlebrook Road, as well as in the area of Gunners Branch Road and Archdale Road. However, MCPD has not released any information about suspects or arrests connected with this case.
