Police Responded to Reports of Shots Fired at Shoppers Store

November 17, 2017

Montgomery County Police from the 5th District responded to the report of gunshots near the Shoppers Food & Pharmacy store at 18066 Mateny Road in Germantown late Monday night November 13.

MCPD spokesman Rick Goodale confirmed that officers responded to the parking lot of the Shoppers store in the Clopper Mill Village shopping plaza at about 9:00 pm on Monday, Nov. 13. He said, via an email to Germantown Pulse, that officers did not find any victims and none have come forward. However, police found two spent shell casings in the parking lot.

Montgomery County Police Detectives continue to investigate this incident.

Meanwhile, police in the 6th District are investigating two incidents of shots being fired near a church in Gaithersburg this week. According to a police press release, on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 15, a parishioner of the New Life Seventh Day Adventist Church at 7401 Muncaster Mill Road, called police after he was attending a service at the church and noticed a bullet hole in a window frame near the front entrance. Police responded, and a bullet fragment was recovered from the frame.  Church representatives are unsure of when this firearm discharge may have occurred.

Then, on Thursday, Nov. 16 at approximately 11:13 pm, 6th District officers responded to the area of the church for the report of sounds of multiple gunshots. The church had sustained damage from apparent gunfire and officers recovered bullet fragments at the scene. Officers also located and recovered multiple shell casings on Muncaster Mill Road near the church. No one was injured in these events.

Anyone with information about these incidents in Gaithersburg is asked to call the 6th District Investigative Section at 240-773-5770.
