Jags Head into Playoffs After Final Regular Season Victory
Head Coach Mike Neubeiser and the Northwest Jaguars knew they had a playoff date at the end of this week as they headed into last Friday’s game with Barons of Bethesda Chevy-Chase High School. As a result, the Jags took to opportunity to rest some their key starters for the game, which Northwest won 52-0 in Germantown on Friday.
The Jags who are 8-2 after beating BCC last week will host 7-3 the Richard Montgomery Rockets on Friday, Nov. 10 in a first-round playoff game. These two teams met last year in the first-round in Rockville, and the Rockets knocked the Jags out of the playoffs with a 28-13 victory.
Northwest came from behind to beat RM 48-24 in Germantown four weeks ago to hand Richard Montgomery their third loss of the season. The Rockets also have a road loss to Sherwood 42-18 on September 22, and a 21-9 home loss to Paint Branch in the second game of the season on September 8. The Jags two losses are at the hands of Quince Orchard and Good Counsel.
The Jags had no problem with BCC last Friday, even with first-string running back Juwon Farri in street clothes and starting quarterback Chris Craddock dressed but not playing, the Jags offense managed to put up 24 points. The Northwest special teams and defensive units accounted for 14 points each.
