Police Blotter: Subway Restaurant Robbed at Gunpoint; Man Beaten With Baseball Bat and Robbed
Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from October 2 through October 17.
Police report that the Subway restaurant at 19911 Frederick Road in Germantown was robbed at by a man with a gun at approximately 8:15 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 10. According to police, a black male walked into the store, displayed a handgun and demanded that the employee open the register. Subway personnel complied, and the suspect took the cash and fled the area. MCPD did not release a description of the suspect’s clothing or means of getaway.
MCPD report that an adult male was beaten and robbed by a group of teens with a baseball bat in the evening of Friday, Oct. 6, while he was walking in the parking lot in the 18900 block of Century Boulevard. That parking lot is behind the retail buildings which house Ruby Tuesday, Baja Fresh, and the Hair Cuttery, on Century Boulevard between Middlebrook Road and Town Commons Drive.
According to police, the victim was walking through the area at about 5:45 pm when he was approached by two black females and two black males in their late teens. One of the suspects began assaulting him with a baseball bat. The subject stole his cash and fled on foot. The victim had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment by MCFRS EMS as a result of his injuries.
Police reported the second incident where a food delivery person was called to an address only to be met by an armed individual looking to rob them.
According to police, a delivery man was called to the 19700 block of Crystal Rock Drive at about 10:07 pm on Sunday, Oct. 15. Once he rang the bell on the address which ordered the food, the occupants informed him that they had not placed the order. As he was leaving, he was approached by a male suspect with a knife who demanded the food and his money. The delivery man refused and was able to get his vehicle and leave the area. Police did not release a description of the suspect.
MCPD report three vehicles stolen in Germantown within a week.
The first vehicle, a 1998 Dodge Caravan, was stolen from12600 block of Red Pepper Court between approximately 5:15 pm and approximately 9:15 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 10. Police are unsure how the vehicle was stolen; there was no forced entry.
The second vehicle theft occurred in the area of Saint Johnsbury Lane and Running Cedar Court between approximately 11:00 pm on Thursday, Oct. 12 and 6:00 am on Friday, Oct. 13. In this instance, the victim reported losing the key to the 2016 Ford vehicle shortly before the car was stolen.
The third stolen vehicle, 2010 Honda Accord, was taken from the 13000 block of Open Hearth Way in Germantown between about 8:33 pm on Sunday, Oct. 15 and 5:53 am on Monday, Oct. 16.
MCPD reported three burglaries in the Germantown area.
A residential garage burglary occurred in the 14400 block of Foolish Pleasure Road in Boyds between approximately 7:20 pm and approximately 8:40 pm on Friday, Oct. 6. No signs of forced entry, the garage door was reported to have been left open; property was taken.
A commercial garage burglary occurred at RJ Landscape located at 19340 Liberty Mill Road in the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 7. Forced entry; property was taken.
A residential garage burglary occurred in the 12100 block of Greenridge Drive between approximately 8:30 pm on Sunday, Oct. 8 and approximately 7:00 am on Monday, Oct. 9. No signs of forced entry, the garage door was reported to have been left open; nothing was taken.
MCPD reported many instances of thefts from vehicles. Police urge all residents to take a role in preventing this type of crime by removing valuables from vehicles and locking all doors.
Five thefts from vehicles occurred between Monday, Oct. 2 and Monday, Oct. 9. Affected streets included Locustdale Drive, Appledowre Circle, Gunners Branch Road, Dunstable Circle, and Gateshead Circle. Force was reported in two events; cash, property, and vehicle parts were taken.
Multiple thefts from vehicles events occurred between Friday, Oct. 6 and Oct. Monday, 9 in Clarksburg. Affected streets included Muscadine Drive, Shining Harness Street, Glacier Lily Drive, Ivy Leaf Drive, Little Vineyard Lane, Winemiller Way, Catawba Manor Court, Bears Den Lane, and Robin Song Drive. Force was reported in one event; cash and property were taken.
Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between Thursday, Oct. 12 and Tuesday, Oct. 17 in Germantown. Affected streets included Minstrel Tune Drive, Sunnyview Court, Greenfield Road, Gateshead Circle, Arrowleaf Court, and Staten Court. No force; property and vehicle parts were taken.
Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between Wednesday, Oct. 11 and Tuesday, Oct. 17 in Germantown. Affected streets included Emerald Green Drive, Meadow Mist Road, Mistflower Drive, and Uffizi Lane. No force; cash and property were taken.
Three thefts from vehicles occurred between Sunday, Oct. 15 and Tuesday, Oct. 17 in Germantown. Affected streets included Waters Row Terrace, Town Commons Court, and Vaughn Landing Drive. Force was reported in one event; cash and property were taken.
Four thefts from vehicles occurred between Tuesday, Oct. 10 and Monday, Oct. 16 in Germantown. Affected streets included Kingsview Road, Owl Run Way, Harmony Woods Lane, and Metz Drive. Force was reported in one event; cash and property were taken.
MCPD reminds residents that additional incidents may have occurred and the reports had not yet been received at the time of publication, on October 27.
