Northwest Boys Suffer First Lost to Clarksburg, Lady Coyotes and Lady Jags Earn Draw

On Friday, the previously unbeaten Northwest Jaguars boys team hosted Clarksburg on the pitch, and the Coyotes came away with their first second of the season.

The Jags were unbeaten in their first two games of the season with starting with a thrilling comeback to earn an overtime draw at Sherwood and another comeback against Blair, this time a 3-2 victory.

However, on Friday the Jags would not be able to tap into that comeback magic as they fell to Clarksburg 3-2.

The Coyotes had struggled in their first two games, falling in overtime 3-2 on the road to Damascus in their opener and a 1-0 loss to Watkins Mill on Sept. 13. However, The Coyotes have won three straight since the loss to Watkins Mill, including a 3-1 victory over Wootton, Friday’s win over Northwest, and a 3-1 victory on Tuesday over Seneca Valley.

The Jags, on the other hand, have also continued their winning ways. Since Friday’s loss to Clarksburg, Northwest has earned a 1-1 draw over previously unbeaten Bethesda Chevy Chase on Saturday, and 1-0 road win on Monday night at Gaithersburg.

The Jags will put their 2-1-2 record on the line against their rivals Quince Orchard tonight (Wednesday, Sept. 27) at Northwest west. The Cougars are 3-2-1 on the season.

Meanwhile, the Coyotes will host 2-4 Richard Montgomery tonight in Clarksburg. Both games have 7:15 pm starts.

In other soccer news, on the girls’ side things, both Northwest and Clarksburg have one loss each, and they played to 0-0 draw on Friday night.

The Lady Jags started the season with impressive wins over Sherwood (3-1) and Blair (2-1) in overtime.

The Lady Coyotes began with two straight 4-0 victories, first over Seneca Valley to start the season and then over Watkins Mill. They dropped a 1-0 game to Wootton, before playing Northwest to a scoreless draw on Friday.

On Saturday the Northwest girls fell 1-0 in overtime to the 6-0 Lady Barons of BCC. The Lady Jags rebounded on Monday evening with a 1-0 home victory over Gaithersburg.

The Lady Jags will travel to play 3-1 Quince Orchard tonight (Wednesday) while the Lady Coyotes will travel to 3-2, Richard Montgomery for a 5:15 pm start in Rockville.
