Three-Car Crash Leaves Woman Trapped

August 30, 2017

An adult female had to be extricated from her vehicle by firefighters after a three car collision left her trapped in her SUV, shortly before rush hour on a rainy Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred on the twisty turning section of Watkins Mill Road just west of Green River Terrace at shortly before 5:00 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 29. The crash left two of the three vehicles off the road and trapped the adult female driver of a burgundy SUV in her vehicle.

According to Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service senior spokesman Pete Piringer, the woman was extricated by Truck 734 and transported to Suburban Hospital, in stable condition, as Priority 2 trauma patient.

The other two vehicles involved in the crash were a white Kia Sorento and a black Lincoln Aviator. The driver of the Kia was transported to Holy Cross Germantown Hospital with minor injuries, while the driver of the Lincoln was not injured. Both drivers were adults.

Watkins Mill Road was closed for about an hour during Tuesday’s rush hour while police and fire personnel tended to the injured and made sure the vehicles were removed from the scene.
