Transformer Fire Leaves Residents Powerless

A burning electrical transformer left hundreds of Germantown residents without power on Wednesday morning.

Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service units were called to the area of Waters Landing Drive and Anndyke Way in Germantown for the report of a burning transformer, shortly before 10:00 am on August 23, according to MCFRS senior spokesman Pete Piringer.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but the damage to the transformer left many area residents without power. According to Potomac Edison’s Outage Page, about 136 customers were left with no power. Potomac Edison estimates that power should restored by 1:00 pm.
