Germantown Man Arrested for Attempted Armed Robbery

Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from July 10 through July 25.

Police have arrested a Germantown man for an attempted armed robbery of a gas station convenience store. According to police, Robert Johnson, 38, of Timko Lane in Germantown entered the convenience store at the Liberty Gas Station located at 13411 Kingsview Village Avenue at approximately 9:00 pm on July 23. Upon entering he walked behind the counter and displayed a large knife and demanded money. The clerk jumped the counter and ran out of the store and called police. The suspect then left the store without taking anything.

Johnson was arrested the following day and charged with Armed Robbery and First-Degree Assault. He was held without bond. According to Maryland Case Search, Johnson has a criminal history. In June of 2006, Johnson was indicted on 1st Degree Burglary charges and pleaded guilty. In September of 2015, Johnson pleaded guilty to one count of Second-Degree Assault and one count of Fourth Degree Sexual Abuse of a Minor.

In other news around the Germantown area, police arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a strong arm robbery in the 19900 block of Aircraft Drive in Germantown. The incident took place at about 9:45 pm on July 12. Police arrested Isaih D’Amari Love Dayne,18, of Caledonia Court in Germantown. Police say that Dayne walked up to the victim and asked to borrow his cell phone. When the victim agreed, Dayne ran away with the phone. Police arrested Dayne and charged him with Robbery and Theft of Less Than $1,000.

Police report that another strong arm robbery took place that same evening, on Wednesday, July 12 about 20 minutes later in the area of Mateny Road and Quiet Oak Lane in Germantown. According to police the victim was approached by two young black men who asked to bum a cigarette. When the victim said he didn’t have any, the suspects told him that they could see the pack in his pocket and they grabbed this pack and demanded money from the victim. The victim refused and the suspects fled on foot. Police arrested a 16-year-old male from Germantown, and are looking for another black male in connection with this incident.

MCPD reported an aggravated assault occurred in the 9800 block of Bethesda Church Road in Damascus at approximately 9:45 pm on July 12. The suspect assaulted the adult male victim.

MCPD reported two vehicle thefts occurred in the following areas:

The fist occurred in the 18100 block of Metz Drive at 2005 Chevy Suburban was stolen between approximately 9:00 pm on Sunday, July 23 and approximately 7:30 am on Monday, July 24. It is not known how the thieves gained entry to the vehicle and it has not yet be recovered.

The second happened the next evening in the 18800 block of Poppyseed Lane between approximately 11:00 pm on Monday, July 24 and approximately 6:00 am on Tuesday, July 25. A 2006 Nissan Sentra was stole. Again, it is not known how the thieves gained entry to the vehicle and it has not yet be recovered.

Montgomery County Police reported a number of residential burglaries in the 5th District;

A residential burglary occurred in the 18800 block of Bent Willow Circle between approximately 11:00 am and approximately 11:40 am on Tuesday, July 11. Forced entry; nothing was taken. According to police the suspects are two Black males of unknown ages.

A residential burglary occurred in the 21900 block of Huntmaster Drive between approximately 9:00 pm on Friday, July 14 and approximately 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 19. Forced entry; nothing was taken.
